Unshackle CIC is a non-profit community interest organisation dedicated to fostering positive change in Northampton and its surrounding areas. Our mission is to break the cycle of crime and despair by providing holistic support and guidance, particularly focusing on mental health assistance and crime prevention.
Our Purpose
At Unshackle, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to lead a fulfilling life, free from the constraints of past mistakes or mental health challenges. Our purpose is to offer a beacon of hope and a pathway to transformation for individuals facing difficulties or struggling to break free from cycles of crime and despair.
Our Approach
We understand the complexities of mental health and the barriers individuals face in seeking help. That’s why we provide personalised, one-on-one support tailored to each individual’s needs. Through our network of partner agencies and professionals, we offer comprehensive assistance spanning mental health care, substance abuse treatment, and social and physical well-being.
Community Engagement:
Our commitment extends beyond individual support to community-wide initiatives aimed at reducing violence, knife crime, and the stigma surrounding mental health. Through workshops, mentoring programs, and pro-social activities, we empower individuals to make positive choices and contribute to a safer, more supportive community.
OUR SERVICES
Comprehensive Mentorship Approach
Our mentoring team consists of individuals from varied backgrounds, including those who have triumphed over personal adversities and professionals with expertise across different fields. Our tailored support and personalised guidance is ensured at every step of the reintegration journey.
Through-the-Gate Resettlement
Our through-the-gate resettlement initiatives offer personalised support to individuals at every stage of their journey, from pre-release planning to post-release adjustment. We work closely with prison leavers to address their unique needs and aspirations, helping them access essential services, secure housing, find employment, and rebuild their lives with confidence.
Desistance and Reintegration Workshops
Our focused workshops address a range of critical issues, including mindset development, lifestyle choices, communication skills, and essential life skills. These workshops provide practical tools and strategies to support individuals in making positive changes, breaking harmful patterns, and fostering personal growth and resilience.
Grassroots Initiatives: Empowering Communities for Change
Unshackle CIC is committed to grassroots initiatives aimed at preventing crime, promoting community safety, and empowering individuals to lead fulfilling lives. Our projects target at-risk populations, provide support to families affected by incarceration, and engage with local communities to address underlying social issues.
Mentoring for Crime Prevention: Through our grassroots mentoring programs, we work proactively to avert individuals from engaging in criminal activities or becoming involved with law enforcement.
Support for Prison Families and Children: We offer dedicated support services tailored to the unique needs of prison families, including counseling, advocacy, and practical assistance.
